Character Education International (CEI) is a labour of love by Sheri Hansen and her husband Borge Hansen for the past 25 years. The overarching aim of CEI has been to strive to help individuals in their own personal development by drawing on their inherent virtues. This is based on the belief that when one learns to live by moral principles and values, the natural outcomes that follow are the development of one’s character, self-esteem and healthy relationships.

To facilitate this objective, a central focus of CEI has been to provide training materials, workshops and consulting services for parents, teachers and organisations that are involved in the work of educating children, and thus raising a new generation.

A child’s time, whether at home, kindergarten or school, is a journey in discovering and cultivating their strengths and abilities, therefore laying a firm foundation for life-long learning and achievement. Education, both formal and informal, is most effective when it draws out the potential qualities, forms good habits, fosters constructive attitudes and develops the necessary skills in children.

Educational institutions throughout the world are becoming increasingly aware that their responsibility is not limited to teaching children literacy, numeracy, sciences and arts. In fact, the foundation of all learning is to help children develop a sound character and assist them to make moral choices. CEI is committed to continuing to contribute to the holistic education of children through collaborating with the various protagonists in their learning development.

Since 2002, CEI was invited to offer its services to Chinese kindergartens, schools, and higher educational institutions which resulted in extensive travels to China for many years. During this time, much of its communication was directed towards a Chinese audience (hence the bilingual website). In 2016 Sheri authored the book “Conscious Parenting” and other material which were translated into Chinese. See the “Resources” section for more information.

Given the current restrictions of movement due to COVID-19, CEI is now offering some of its services only online through virtual presentations on various topics as well as one-on-one consultations on parenting, personal development and family and relationship issues.
